Following their critically acclaimed 2009 production of Oedipus the King, New Farm Nash Theatre Inc. presents the second play in the Theban Trilogy, Antigone. Several of the original cast of Oedipus return in this production of Antigone, including Damien Danaher as Creon, who rules Thebes unwisely, and Josh Tregenza and Nicholas Piper, who once again display their physical theatre skills as members of the Chorus as well as playing Teiresius and Haemon respectively. They are joined by Jessica Radvan as Antigone, Carolyn Wagner as Ismene and Eurydice and Melissa Russo as the third member of the Greek Chorus.

The cast explores a variety of theatrical forms to bring to the stage Sophocles’ classic drama of the conflict between Antigone, who against Creon’s orders, buries her brother, the traitor Polynices, and Creon, who sentences her to be buried alive for her crime. Physical theatre, mask and natural acting methods are blended to highlight the folly, prejudice and arrogance, which lead to the downfall of Creon and of Thebes itself.
