Poe's Greatest Hits
Adapted by Brad Turnbull from the stories of Edgar Allen Poe
Directed by Brad Turnbull
Our first "Late Night Gn@sh" production for 2005, "Poe's Greatest Hits" consists of four classic tales of mystery and imagination, brought to sweating, screaming life smack in the middle of the decade that taught us "Greed is Good". And then give a very thorough shaking.
- The Tell Tale Heart is seen as the story of an extremely 'upwardly mobile' young man, stamping out freakishness as he climbs.
- The Cask of Amontillado is as it has always been - a chilling portrayal of revenge served in a crystal flute - but this time during NYE celebrations, 1985. Joan Collins could learn a lot from these two ladies.
- The Fall of the House of Usher shows us what happens when police/forensic investigations get personal, like "Cagney and Lacey" and "Miami Vice" never could.
- And finally - that story of the little black bird we all know and love (mostly courtesy of "The Simpsons", of course) shows us a young man's "risky" first confrontations with the deeper forces of life.
