The Boys
Written by Gordon Graham
Directed by Brenda White & Casey Moon-Watton
Season: 29 September – 27 October
The Boys is based on the Anita Cobby murder of February 1986. Not nearly as horrifying as the real story, the play focuses on the fictional Sprague family, and what makes them tick. The trouble starts with the Brett’s release from 12 months in gaol. We follow the family through the ups and downs of the days, weeks and months after. This story, while titled The Boys is really about the women, their relationships with the boys, and their relationships with each other, in the aftermath of the shocking crime their betrothed commit. We felt it fitting that we donate a portion of the profits of this show to Relationships Australia, to help them continue the good work they do for relationships and Victims of Crime in Queensland.
While the subject matter isn’t pleasant it’s been a pleasure for us to produce this show with such a talented cast and crew. We thank them, and Nash Theatre for all their efforts. We hope you take something away from this powerful story.
